Description

The company situated in the Waterberg of Limpopo, is an industry leader in the Production, Packing, Exporting and Marketing of Certified Organic produce. Both Organic Fruit (Stone Fruit and Appels) and Organic Vegetables (Sweet Potatoes and Cucurbits) are produced Organically on large scale for Export and Local Markets.

They are looking for a Quality Control Technical Manager; to supervise staff and oversee product development procedures to ensure that products meet quality and efficiency standards, subsequently maximising profitability. The Manager will also work with clients (internal and external) to ensure the final products meet their needs and requirements in line with the company vision of supplying organic produce to every household.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
1. Subordinates - Management of all quality control staff
2. Act as quality support to Packhouse Operations Manager
REPORT TO:
1. C.E.O. and/or duly authorised Executive
2. Packhouse Operations Manager

  1. Oversee Quality Control
    • Cold chain management – ensure best practises are adhered to
    • Product quality control
    • Management of positive release process
    • Adherence to labelling requirements
    • Inter-departmental training
    • Optimising Operational Flow focusing on improved quality
  2. Food Safety & Hygiene
    • Traceability management - root cause analysis
    • Client Technical Manager liaison
    • Oversee overall hygiene standard – facility, staff etc
    • Microbial- and Chemical testing when required
    • HACCP - process management
      • Internal audits
      • Leading HACCP Team – meeting process
      • Root cause analysis and risk assessments
      • Non-conformance management – corrective action
  3. Compliance Adherence
    • Internal and external audits
    • Ensuring all documentation for audits is correct and complete
    • Sector compliance – Inspections
  4. Product Development
    • Specifications management
    • Procurement – packaging material etc

Measurement/Incentive Measurable

  • Acceptable percentage audit pass rate
  • Customer service – rejections, claims

Position Requirements/Skillset

  • Direct compliance experience – GG, FSA, IBL, BRC
  • Preferred but not required experience in organic industry – EU and USDA Organic, “Natuurland”
  • Minimum requirement of Food Technology Degree or Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years technical/production experience
  • Produce export experience
  • Computer Skills – Excel proficient, MS Office
