One of the country’s leading fruit exporters is recruiting a Soft Citrus Product Manager who will add value to the company’s human resources talent pool. This vacancy offers a challenging role to a dynamic individual, who is driven by attention to detail in reporting and motivated by deadlines. Reporting to the Citrus Director, the incumbent will be based at the company's Cape Town offices and be part of a knowledgeable citrus team.

Job description
Define optimum procurement target • Agree target programme volumes and specs with clients • Formalise and communicate with relevant citrus team members.
Procurement • Co-ordinate/guide procurement in line with market and food safety requirements and based on the company's growth requirements • Liaise with growers/area managers on a regular basis to proactively manage shortfalls/excesses.
Supply management • Compile and ensure packing instructions are circulated to area managers timeously • Monitor packing progress and facilitate solutions to over/short packs as well as packing material • Management of depot stock levels (FIFO) and dwell times.
Key account management • Service specific retail/HORECA/wholesale accounts • Grow client base in line with the company's strategy • Income optimization • Claim negotiation.

Minimum knowledge and experience required to perform this job competently:
Education and Experience:
Formal tertiary qualifications with at least 5 – 7 years’ relevant work experience in the fruit and/or agricultural industry with an accomplished citrus production/technical/sales track record. Specific focus on the following topics are essential:
• Technical knowledge of Citrus production, packing and quality.
• European and UK retail experience.
• Procurement and grower services.
• Product management.
