Yara Animal Nutrition is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Sales Nutritionist to drive the marketing, research, and development of our world-class animal nutrition products. This role is key to strengthening our market presence, expanding our customer base, and ensuring long-term commercial value for both Yara and our customers.
The position will be based at Yara Animal Nutrition South Africa (Pty) Ltd in Durban and report to the Commercial Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Marketing
•Maintain, strengthen, and grow the customer base across South Africa.
•Maintain Yara as the preferred supplier for feed phosphate, feed-grade urea, and associated animal nutrition products.
•Develop and implement marketing strategies for key accounts to meet customer needs.
•Build and sustain strong relationships with high-level customers and industry stakeholders.
•Monitor market changes and implement short- and long-term strategies to achieve sales, volume, margin, and expense targets.
•Conduct regular customer visits to promote products and drive sales.
Administration and Debtors support
•Process customer orders and prepare sales quotations.
•Compile sales forecasts.
•Manage customer complaints and claims, ensuring swift resolution and corrective actions
Technical Responsibilities
•Engage with industry bodies (AFMA, ARC, universities, SASAS) and maintain scientific networks locally and internationally.
•Provide technical support to the plant when needed.
•Serve as backup for the Nutritionist when required.
Research & Development
•Identify new product opportunities based on market needs.
•Lead product development, improvement, and proactive evaluations.
•Integrate nutrition expertise to anticipate market trends and technical advancements.
•Promote new products to relevant customers.
•Prepare trial protocols, execute trials, analyse data, and draft technical reports.
•Collaborate with research institutions on product testing and development.
Qualifications & Experience
•Tertiary qualification in Nutrition (essential).
•Registered Animal Scientist with SACNASP
•Bi-lingual (Afrikaans and English) essential
•Minimum 5 years’ sales experience in the animal nutrition or feed industry.
•Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
