Description
An established and fast-growing fresh produce trading and export business is seeking a Junior Commercial Manager to support and grow its specialty and baby vegetable category. This role is ideal for a commercially minded individual who enjoys balancing sales, buying, and relationship management in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will work closely with farmers and customers, coordinate supply and demand, and play an active role in developing new customer channels while ensuring consistent quality and availability.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Development
- Manage and support existing customer accounts
- Identify upselling and growth opportunities
- Assist with developing new customers across retail, wholesale, and hospitality channels
- Prepare quotations, manage orders, and follow through to delivery
- Track customer preferences and buying patterns
Buying & Procurement
- Source specialty, baby, and niche vegetable products
- Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers and suppliers
- Monitor seasonality, availability, and market trends
Relationship Management
- Act as a central point of contact between farmers and customers
- Resolve quality, delivery, or pricing queries
- Maintain clear and professional communication at all times
Commercial & Operational Support
- Coordinate shipments with internal logistics and operations teams
- Maintain accurate records for pricing, orders, and agreements
- Support forecasting and planning activities
Minimum Requirements
- 1–3 years’ experience in a commercial, sales, procurement, or supply chain role
- Bilingual: English and Afrikaans (essential)
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to farms and suppliers
- Passion for fresh produce and agriculture
