Production Manager (Animal Feeds)

At Eagles Rock Animal Feeds, high quality products are produced with the customer's requirements in mind. A dedicated team of technical personnel is always looking for ways to improve products and performance.

They are now looking for a Production Manager. The Production Manager must ensure that the overall operation runs effectively and efficiently, so as to achieve the company standard in terms of production and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning, loading changes and checks, organising & controlling.
• Maintaining and improving the highest standards of housekeeping
• Compiling production report and graphs
• Observing the effective maintenance of safety rules and standards in the department by the workers
• Managing time-lines and work priorities and allocating resources to meet the assigned factory time-lines and goals (mixer and pellet plant efficiency).
• Ensuring that the product effectively satisfies the quality level ordered by the customer (mash, pellet and crumb quality).
• Ensuring the effectual adopting of new programs (machine settings, controls and policies) and providing training in order to meet improved requirements ordered by customers and formula specification.
• Executing factory manufacturing strategic plan and aligning it with general plant strategy and targets.
• Supervising quality standards and enforcing quality-control programs set from Quality Department (batch reports, scale calibrations, hammer mill sieves and mixer settings).
• Attend to customer complaint (investigations and reporting)
• Collaborating with sales and marketing department, formulating department, and financial department to ensure the successful run of delivery schedule (bulk and bag deliveries).
• Reviewing the overall performance and identifying training necessities of production personnel.
• To take full ownership in managing the day do day dispatch operation, ensuring that customers expectations are exceeded in terms of delivery times, quantity and type of product, quality of product and packaging, addressing queries and overall level of customer service

Education & Experience required:

• Grade 12
• Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in production and/or milling
• Feed Mill experience in the poultry industry
• Manufacturing processes, procedures, and plant machinery
• Knowledge of Feed Industry, quality and sanitation standards and requirements
• OHSA awareness
• Manufacturing process of Animal Feed – process excellence tools
• Raw material knowledge of products used in the feed mill
• Feed making technology
• Biosecurity
• Feed Safety awareness
• Must be a South African Citizen
• Valid Driver’s License
• Own reliable transport
