Role Overview
The Poultry Team Lead is responsible for leading technical support within the poultry segment, delivering high-quality nutritional expertise and value-added solutions to both external customers and internal stakeholders.
This role focuses on identifying business opportunities within existing and prospective customers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that drive growth and strengthen market presence.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Support
- Provide expert nutritional guidance and technical support to key poultry customers and internal teams
- Ensure high nutritional standards across the product portfolio
- Act as the technical lead for poultry-related activities within the operating company
- Support sales and marketing teams with technical insights and customer-facing materials
Nutrition & Formulation
- Define technical requirements for key accounts, including nutritional and product solutions
- Translate research findings and field experience into practical feed solutions
- Monitor and optimise feed formulations to ensure performance, quality, and animal health
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery
Product Development & Innovation
- Identify market needs and develop new poultry products and solutions
- Lead the execution of product development initiatives in line with company strategy
- Manage trial protocols, data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Evaluate the commercial feasibility and go-to-market strategies for new products
Operational Efficiency
- Support production processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Contribute to operational discussions and ensure timely reworks where required
Market Growth
- Support initiatives to expand the poultry market footprint
- Strengthen customer relationships and identify growth opportunities
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior nutritionists and formulators within the monogastric team
- Foster knowledge sharing and continuous development within the team
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc or MSc (preferred) in Animal Science or a related field
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in poultry nutrition
- Farm management and feed mill experience will be advantageous
- SACNASP registration as a Professional Natural Scientist
- Proficiency in English
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership and people management capabilities
