Description

A progressive and market-driven agricultural business specialising in high-value tree crops is seeking an experienced Production Manager - Cherries to join its operations. The organisation supplies both local retail markets and international export channels and is focused on quality, efficiency, and sustainable production practices.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing a cherry production unit and will report directly to senior management. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong planning, execution, and team management capabilities within a fast-paced farming environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full production cycle from planting through to harvest, including irrigation, fertilisation, and crop protection
  • Plan and coordinate all production activities in alignment with operational goals
  • Monitor orchard performance and implement improvements to optimise yield and quality
  • Lead, manage, and develop on-farm teams to achieve productivity targets
  • Support budget implementation, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Maintain accurate production records and compile regular reports
  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices and certification standards (e.g. GlobalG.A.P.)
  • Perform additional duties relevant to the role as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture (Horticulture, Crop Production, or similar)
  • Approximately 2–5 years’ experience in orchard or fruit production management (cherries or similar crops advantageous)
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • Results-driven with a proactive and independent working style
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak production periods
