Description
Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Farm Manager: Laying for its Cobb Laying operations in the Agriculture division. The incumbent will achieve the required Laying KPI’s that ultimately ensure that the company’s day old chick requirements are met. This position reports to Senior Farm Manager. The ideal candidate will be in possession of a tertiary qualification in Animal Production or related poultry science, with 3 to 5 years’ experience in PS management of laying birds. The incumbent should be self-driven to effectively drive continuous improvement initiatives within the business.
Results required:
- Effectively contribute to the achievement of Grand Parent Laying KPIs on the facility.
- Ensure that all houses and assets are kept in perfect operating condition throughout the cycle.
- Rigid SOP and BRC adherence on a daily basis – in all operational aspects.
- Ability to manage costs and run the farm within the allocated budget.
- Ability to oversee and guide the maintenance effort on the farm to achieve KPIs.
- Contribute to ensuring the safe working conditions of employees on site.
- Submit reports, planning schedules and data analysis reports as required.
- Uphold high standards of animal husbandry.
- Effective identification of areas of improvement and timeous implementation of corrective action.
- Lead, support and oversee improvement of company related values and systems.
- Add to the pool of shared meaning by guiding and sharing the best ethical practices to the team.
- Measure effectiveness and efficiency of operational activities and mitigate where necessary.

- Availability for flexi-time, standby, public holidays, weekend duties when required operationally.
