Description
Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Farm Manager: Rearing for its Rearing operations in the Agriculture division. The incumbent of this position will be expected to achieve the required rearing KPIs, which ultimately ensure that the company’s day-old chick requirements are met. The position is on TASK grade T09 and will report to the Rearing Area Manager. The ideal candidate will be in possession of a tertiary qualification in animal production or related poultry science, with 2 years’ experience in PS management in rearing birds and 1 year experience supervising a small team.
Results Required:
- Ensure that the farm is run efficiently by managing costs, and limiting and reducing wastage;
- Ensure that all houses and assets are kept in perfect operating condition throughout the cycle;
- Lead, motivate and retain a team of employees;
- Ensure that all employees are trained to the level of competency required to conduct their respective duties;
- Ensure rigid SOP and BRC adherence in all operational aspects;
- Complete and submit reports, planning schedules and data analysis reports as required;
- Oversee and guide the maintenance effort on the farm to achieve KPIs;
- Contribute to ensuring the safe working conditions of employees on site;
- Provide timeous feedback to superiors regarding challenges, concerns and general performance, to ensure a proactive approach.

- Be a quick learner who is able to analyze and interrogate data to optimize performance;

- Be driven to achieve results and produce quality products;
