MEER OOR DIE POS: 'n Hoogs suksesvolle kommersiële boerdery in gewasverbouing, is op soek na ’n tegnies sterk Tegniese Veldbeampte om by hul landboubedryf in die Delmas-distrik aan te sluit. Hierdie is ’n veldgebaseerde tegniese rol wat verantwoordelik is vir die verskaffing van agronomiese ondersteuning en tegniese advies aan die landbougroep en hul netwerk van kontrakboere, met die doel om gewasprestasie, opbrengs en algehele produksiedoeltreffendheid te verbeter.
Die suksesvolle kandidaat sal oor sterk teoretiese landboukennis sowel as praktiese veldondervinding beskik en sal ’n beduidende hoeveelheid tyd in die veld spandeer om direk met boere te werk, gewas- en grondtoestande te assesseer, produksie-uitdagings te identifiseer en praktiese, kommersieel gefundeerde aanbevelings te maak.
SLEUTELVERANTWOORDELIKHEDE:
- Agronomiese advies & gewasproduksie.
- Verskaf tegniese agronomiese advies aan kontrakboere gedurende die volledige produksiesiklus, met ’n fokus op gewasprestasie, opbrengsoptimalisering en kwaliteit.
- Doen gereelde veldinspeksies, gewasassesserings en gewasmonitering, identifiseer produksiebeperkings en beveel toepaslike regstellende aksies aan.
- Adviseer oor kultivarkeuse, plantpraktyke, gewasvestiging, plantestand, grondvoorbereiding en ploegpraktyke, gebaseer op grond-, klimaats- en produksietoestande.
- Verskaf tegniese leiding rakende grondvrugbaarheid, bemesting, plantvoeding, pH en voedingstofbestuur, asook die identifisering en bestuur van onkruid, peste, siektes en omgewingstres.
- Evalueer gewasprestasie en die doeltreffendheid van agronomiese intervensies deur gebruik te maak van veldwaarnemings en produksieresultate om deurlopende opbrengsverbetering en meer doeltreffende produksiepraktyke te bevorder.
KANDIDAATVEREISTES:
- Tersiêre kwalifikasie in landbou, bv. BSc Agric Agronomie/Plantproduksie of ND in Landbou is 'n aanbeveling. (Kandidate met matriek en voldoende ervaring sal ook oorweeg word).
- Minimum van 2-5 jaar ervaring in tegniese ondersteuning of produksie van gewasse soos droëbone en graan. ·
- Moet 'n uitstekende kommunikeerder wees en sterk verhoudings met boere kan opbou.
- Moet selfstandig wees en sonder toesig kan werk.
- Moet effektief in 'n span kan funksioneer.
- Moet oor leierseienskappe beskik.

Technical Field Officer Crops
ABOUT THE ROLE: The company, a highly successful commercial crop farming operation, is seeking a technically strong Technical Field Officer to join its agricultural business in the Delmas district.
This is a field-based technical role responsible for providing agronomic support and technical advice to the company and its network of contract farmers, with the objective of improving crop performance, yield, and overall production efficiency.
The successful candidate will possess strong theoretical agricultural knowledge as well as practical field experience and will spend a significant amount of time in the field working directly with farmers, assessing crop and soil conditions, identifying production challenges, and making practical, commercially sound recommendations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Agronomic Advice & Crop Production
- Provide technical agronomic advice to contract farmers throughout the entire production cycle, with a focus on crop performance, yield optimisation, and quality.
- Conduct regular field inspections, crop assessments, and crop monitoring activities; identify production constraints and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Advise on cultivar selection, planting practices, crop establishment, plant populations, soil preparation, and tillage practices based on soil, climate, and production conditions.
- Provide technical guidance on soil fertility, fertilisation, plant nutrition, pH management, and nutrient management, as well as the identification and management of weeds, pests, diseases, and environmental stress factors.
- Evaluate crop performance and the effectiveness of agronomic interventions through field observations and production results to promote continuous yield improvement and more efficient production practices.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- A tertiary qualification in Agriculture, such as a BSc Agric in Agronomy/Plant Production or a National Diploma in Agriculture, will be advantageous.
- Candidates with a Matric qualification and sufficient relevant experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 2-5 years' experience in technical support or crop production, particularly in crops such as dry beans and grain crops.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with farmers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective team player with strong collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
