Dear Student,
As you might know, the agricultural industry is facing significant skills shortages. But don’t despair, AgriCAREERConnect (ACC) 2026 is back with an expanded series of university events that will connect you to industry and to career opportunities across the entire agri-food chain!
This is also good news for industrial engineers who optimise efficiency, innovation and data/ AI-driven technology throughout the entire agricultural value chain.
What is ACC all about?
ACC is a dynamic platform where students, graduates and postgraduates can engage directly with industry leaders, explore career pathways and understand what industry expects from them in the world of work- from technical roles to commercial and value chain careers.
2026 Event Highlights
AgriCAREERConnect 2026 will host three flagship events at leading universities:
- Stellenbosch University (SU)
Thursday, 30 July 2026 – Fismer Hall, Conservatorium | 10:00 – 15:00 - University of Pretoria (UP)
Wednesday, 19 August 2026 – Sanlam Auditorium & Conference Centre | 10:00 – 15:00 - University of Johannesburg (UJ)
Tuesday, 22 September 2026 – The Kerzner at STH, Bunting Road Campus | 10:00 – 15:00
Event Format and Focus
Each ACC event features:
- High-energy, interactive panel discussions between industry leaders where the world of work is explored extensively
- Mini-expo networking sessions with industry where there are stalls for each company where you can meet the representatives of the company
- Direct engagement between students and employers: you become more than just a number!
Sessions are structured to reflect key sectors in agriculture:
- Production & Technical Careers
- Horticulture, agronomy, soil science, plant pathology, entomology, animal science, food science, including Animal Industry Meetups at ACC Stellenbosch and Pretoria.
- Commercial Value Chain Careers
- Agribusiness, finance, logistics, supply chain, marketing and sales, trade, retail within the scope of agronomy/horticulture, food and animal science.
- Industrial Engineering
- Unlock essential opportunities for industrial engineers who play a pivotal role in optimising efficiency, innovation, and sustainability throughout the entire agricultural value chain.
Who should attend?
Students and graduates who are busy pursuing a career in agriculture and food. If you have a question or five, come!
Students from the different fields of agriculture who are welcome include:
- Plant sciences (horticulture, agronomy, plant pathology, postharvest, genetics)
- Animal science and related disciplines
- Agricultural economics and agribusiness
