Agrijob has some exciting news! AgriCAREERConnect (ACC) is back!

AgriCAREERConnect has evolved into a unique platform over the years, where the agricultural industry shares insights into job opportunities across the entire value chain and networks with students and graduates. These events not only attract youth to the industry but also help companies identify talent, and students gain valuable advice on industry requirements for graduates at entry-level and beyond.
This year, ACC will host interactive events at the University of Pretoria (UP) at the Plant Sciences Complex on 12 September, and at Stellenbosch University (SU) at Die Stal, Coertzenburg on 3 October. Each event will feature two sessions: one focusing on Input Supply and Production (Horticulture, Crops, Viticulture), and the other on Commercial, Value-Adding, Market Places (Agriculture and Food).

More than 400 students specializing in fields such as plant production, agronomy, agricultural economics and agribusiness, plant pathology, microbiology, food and consumer sciences, animal science, industrial engineering, and more, will participate. The lively and robust conversations between industry and students will be facilitated by the dynamic Master of Ceremonies, Ms. Rimbilana Shingange, Senior Lecturer at UP’s Department of Animal Science, and Dr. Melissa van der Merwe, Lecturer at SU’s Department of Agricultural Economics.
Once again, students will be made aware of the dynamic industries which they are in and what awesome opportunities await them. ACC will help guide their decisions for the future and help them make the right choices for their respective futures.
Not only that, but ACC gives students a chance to network and to meet people already in the field in which they are studying/ want to work in. ACC will help them make new connections and will be a place where students can get their burning career questions answered.
ACC also serves as a place where companies can spot talent.
Participating companies represent the entire value chain in agriculture, literally from seed to plate, and include: Rijk Zwaan SA, Starke Ayres, Koppert SA, Fresh Produce Exporters Forum, Citrus Academy, South Africa Wine, Standard Bank, Meadow Feeds, Unlimited Group, RussellStone, Simply Garlic, and BerryWorld. These companies recognise the critical importance of building human capital by engaging with students and graduates.
ACC 2024 will have a similar format to ACC@Nampo in 2023 where Agrijob facilitated three sessions where companies could engage with students studying Plant Production, Animal Science and Agricultural Economics. Participating students were from UP, NWU (North West University), UL (University of Limpopo) and UFS (University of the Free State).

Although the ACC events focus on agriculture and food, any student with a genuine interest in these fields is welcome to attend. However, only students from the University of Pretoria and Stellenbosch University are eligible to register. Students can sign up online at AgriCAREERConnect Registration (www.agrijob.co.za). Seats are limited at both events, so be sure to register now to secure your spot and avoid disappointment.
In the words of Simon Sinek, “a community is a group of people who agree to grow together.” As companies and students meet, tomorrow’s leaders are being spotted and shaped because of the investment in them. That is something of intangible value, as those graduates can then set the example to be the next generation’s leaders.”
ACC is an investment into tomorrow. We cannot wait to see you there!
