The Fresh Produce Exporters’ Forum (FPEF) Graduate Placement Programme is a proudly South African initiative aimed at driving transformation in the fresh fruit export industry. It offers high-potential South African graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in logistics, commercial, and technical (post-harvest quality management) roles at leading fruit export companies. This one-year internship is designed to equip graduates with practical skills, industry exposure, and professional development in a real-world business environment, with the potential to grow into long-term career opportunities. The following FPEF member; a highly successful and fully integrated family-run fruit production operation with a long and rich history in South Africa’s agricultural sector, is seeking a Finance Intern to join their dynamic team in Tzaneen. The business is part of a larger group and is known for its commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation across the value chain.

Purpose:  The purpose of the position is to provide assistance to the finance department, particularly with debtors, by processing accounting transactions, following up on payments, and providing other administrative functions in areas of responsibility. Reporting to the Financial Manager.

Key Learning Areas and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Debtors and Creditors Administration, including processing transactions and reconciliation of accounts
  • Process and reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Maintain and update Master Data across financial systems and platforms.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices up to trial balance.
  • Familiarity with office procedures, document management, and financial systems.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and customer service principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and financial tools such as Pastel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12) with a tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field.
  • BCom degree preferred.

  • Able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Goal-oriented, resilient, and tenacious.
  • Attention to detail with problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Fluent in English and comfortable in a multilingual environment.
