Eagles Rock Feed Mill (Pty) Ltd. is looking for a motivated, seasoned and strong-minded individual with a solid background in agriculture (poultry) and a deep understanding of the manufacturing process. As an essential true leader, you have a passion for managing & motivating a team of employees and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Swiftly handling and resolving unexpected disruptions in the manufacturing process, such as equipment breakdowns or supply chain issues, will be your second nature and a top priority, and you will be meticulous in your work execution.

You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility to achieve maximum production and profitability. This includes managing production schedules, ensuring quality control standards are met, and optimizing efficiency in the manufacturing process. The Operations Manager also plays a crucial role in managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and implementing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Key Duties:

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction, thereby ensuring the long-term growth and viability of the business.
  • Responsible for continually enhancing overall operational efficiencies, and high standards of production, ensuring that that only the highest quality produce/products are consistently being delivered and presented for sale.
  • Proactively manage all aspects related to food quality, health and safety, bio-security and environmental compliance
  • Ensure that all aspects relating to Inventory Management is in place and fully implemented and adhered to
  • Oversee the people management side on the business by providing the necessary leadership
  • Ensure that the required operational, financial and administrative records and reports are generated, analyzed and acted upon, in order to continuously improve the efficiency of the operation
  • Ensure that sound financial management practices and principles are in operation, with strict controls in place for cash management and cost/expenditures.
  • Liaise, as required, with key external service/product suppliers to ensure the smooth operation of the business, and to maximize efficiencies and results achieved
  • Ensure that all customers are satisfied, and any complaints are dealt with professionally and expediently with the primary aim of keeping the customer satisfied 

Education & Experience required:

  • Relevant Degree in Production/Operations Management/Agricultural Science/Animal Science/Animal Nutrition (advantageous)
  • Management/Leadership/MBA related courses/qualifications (advantageous)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Manufacturing/Processing is essential in manufacturing & animal feed industry
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Operations Manager in manufacturing & animal feed industry
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office & experience in compiling reports

Skills & Requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Relevant knowledge of feed and poultry industry
  • Good working understanding of production planning, scheduling, procurement and stock management
  • Above average planning, organizing and controlling skills.
  • Sound decision making and problem-solving ability
  • Passion for Customer service
