Description

A highly successful integrated farming operation involved with vegetable and macadamia production seeks to appoint a Production & Compliance Manager to support the operational management of our farming activities in the George area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, coordination and implementation of key production systems across our vegetable, nursery and macadamia operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the production nursery, producing approximately 600,000 celery and Brussels sprout seedlings per month
  • Coordinate chemical and fertiliser application programmes across all farming operations
  • Ensure spray programmes and fertiliser programmes are executed correctly and on time
  • Maintain accurate spray, fertiliser and production records
  • Manage crop walker activities and ensure accurate scouting information is collected and reported
  • Monitor crop health information and assist management with production decisions
  • Administer and maintain GlobalG.A.P. and related compliance systems
  • Prepare and maintain audit documentation and compliance records
  • Manage and monitor fuel consumption across farming operations and company vehicles
  • Oversee the administration and monitoring of approximately 40 hectares of macadamia orchards
  • Utilise farm management software, including MP4000, for record keeping, reporting and analysis
  • Prepare reports and production information for management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant agricultural qualification and/or practical farming experience
  • Experience in vegetable production and/or orchard management
  • Working knowledge of pest and disease monitoring
  • Experience with spray programmes, fertiliser programmes and associated record keeping
  • Sound understanding of GlobalG.A.P. requirements and farm compliance systems
  • Previous staff supervision and labour management experience
  • Good computer literacy and administrative skills
  • Ability to analyse and interpret crop data and production information
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Valid driver's license.
